Chinese Graphene Delegates Attended Graphene Week Conference, and Visited Related Research Organizations
2015-07-27 16:12:24Chinese Graphene Delegates organized by China Innovation Alliance of the Graphene Industry (CGIA) attended the Graphene Week Conference, held by the European graphene flagship project at University of Manchester, UK, on June 21-28, 2015. The aim of this attending is to understand the graphene recent development in the world, establish international academic and industrial cooperation, so as to realize the Chinese graphene industry development strategic target. This activity has achieved a great success.
The Graphene Week Conference gathered about 650 graphene related colleagues from all over the world. The conference arranged 29 plenary lecture, 72 parallel branch reports, and 336 posters. On the conference, scholars introduced their latest research achievements and shared their discovery in different fields, which will laid solid theoretical basis for the industrial application of graphene.
During the conference, Dr. Yichun Li, Secretary-general of CGIA had conversation with many international famous experts to exchange the view on global graphene cooperation and to discuss the possibility of participation in bilateral cooperation.
The alliance delegates also visited the National Graphene Institute (NGI) in University of Manchester. NGI officially opened in March this year. To help promote the transferring from lab to market, NGI mainly provides advanced experimental conditions and equipment for the researchers including laser, optical, detection and chemical experiment aspects, and also provides the high quality of research environment and related technical support for the small and medium-sized enterprises or institutions of graphene R&D teams, who do not have the place or condition to do research.
After the conference, the alliance delegates paid another visit to the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in Landon. NPL is the first institute participating in the EU Graphene Flagship as a member of graphene metrology. They have conducted lots of scientific measurements on graphene material structural properties, surface physical and chemical properties. These scientific measurements will eventually become the benchmark of industry applications standards. So it plays a decisive role in the establishment of graphene industry standard. After learning that the CGIA Standard Committee is actively promoting the standardization of graphene, NPL as a national representative body is also very willing to cooperate with Chinese institutes, to promote science and technology research and development of graphene under the framework of the bilateral cooperation, helping to promote the establishment of industry standards and to accelerate the development of graphene industry.
