It was well known that the corrosion of engineered structures caused more than 2 trillion US dollars annually worldwide. Various technique and materials have been developed and used in anti-corrosion technique fields. Graphene and graphene oxide, as a 2-D nano material, have been used as highly promising, low-cost, and transparent anticorrosion coating material. We will discuss here the essential requirements of its structure, surface properties of graphene and graphene oxide in various paints and its corrosion behavior, along with the prospective of potential applications of graphene in paint and coating industry.
