Introduction:
In this report, we will review our recent advances in synthesis, process and characterization of highquality graphene and other two-dimensional layered materials, as well as their related transistors and photodetectors.
We will talk over in detail unique growth mechanisms of graphene and other 2D layered materials and scattering mechanisms responsible for electronic transport on the supported layered sheets. We will elaborate several interface engineering strategies in preparing high-quality graphene-like sheets, and devising the associated high-performance transistors and photodetectors by reducing the electrically detrimental species in the active channel via highly-ordered self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), as well as by fostering photonic interactions via hybrid layered material/photonic waveguide and heterostructure architectures. We envision that both atomically-flat SAM platform and photonic-active structures will be generically beneficial for accomplishing high device performance.
