Dr. Jose Munuera is currently working within the Carbonaceous Materials group at the National Coal Institute, from the Spanish Research Council (INCAR-CSIC). The work of the group has been focused on the preparation of porous carbons through molding techniques and the preparation of graphene and 2D materials in liquid phase, as well as the applications of these two kinds of materials in energy, structural and environmental applications.
Mr Munuera's research interests include the preparation of graphene and other two dimensional materials in colloidal dispersion and their applications both in solid and liquid phase. His work to this date has been focused on the liquid phase and electrochemical exfoliation of graphene, with special interest in its high quality, low oxygen content, scalability and functionalization.
His future plans include to continue and expand the preparation of 2D materials through different bottom-up and top-down methods, as well as their applications. He is currently looking for collaborations with other research group and industry, as well as a postdoctoral position.
