Abstract

Graphene with its impermeable and conductive nature can replace currently used anticorrosive pigments in coating systems [1-2]. Further, with its large strength to weight ratio, graphene can be an important component in next generation light weight composites for structural applications. The current bottlenecks in using graphene are low availability of cost effective high quality graphene and its effective incorporation into coating systems. On overcoming these factors, using in coatings and composites can prove to be significant for graphene in terms of volume consumption.
Graphene produced from industrially scalable and cost effective routes, can be electrochemically or chemically/mechanically modified for use in coating for anti-corrosion applications. In this talk, various aspects of graphene production &modifications and corrosion performance of functionalisedGraphene on coatings on multi metal applications will be discussed. Further some highlights of a future roadmap shall also be discussed during the talk.
