Title:The Development of Measurement and standardization of Graphene Materials

Abstract

One of graphene’s many achievements is that it is the first truly two-dimensional material, being only 1 atom thick, and since its isolation research into a whole new family of other two-dimensional materials has begun.  These new materials show exciting and complementary properties to graphene, revealing potential for many other industry applications, such as solar cells, biosensors, displays, composites, flexible electronics and energy storage. As industry uptake on this material increases, standardization will be increasingly required to enable commercialization. Particularly important is the ability to reliable, accurately and reproducibly measure different types of graphene material, as there are many different routes to production that do not necessarily produce the same type of graphene material. Thus, this area of measurement standardisation needs to be addressed internationally, as there are now hundreds of graphene producers worldwide.
Thus, the measurement and standardization of graphene materials have been going on, such as by Raman spectroscopy, AFM, TEM, TGA, while the international comparisons are preparing in international organizations - VAMAS.
