Abstract
The carbon-based material graphene (GN) has attracted significant attention because of its high surface area, superior electrical conductivity, excellent thermal stability, and exceptional mechanical properties. Heteroatom-doped graphene materials, especially N-doped graphene (NG) materials, can tail their electronic property and chemical reactivity to increase their efficiency for ORR. However, the catalytic activity of NG is lower than that of commercial Pt/C in alkaline and acidic media.
In this study, NG samples were obtained using urea as the source. The structural defects and N distribution on the samples were adjusted by regulating the pyrolysis temperature. The new type of NG exhibited similar catalytic activities to commercial Pt/C for ORR in both alkaline and acidic media.
