Professor/Director
LIU Zhaoping is the Professor of NingboInstitute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences,and the Director of National Graphene Innovation Center, CAS EngineeringLaboratory for graphene, and Key Laboratory of Graphene Technologies andApplications of Zhejiang Province. He received his PhD in inorganic chemistryfrom University of Science & Technology of China in 2004. He then worked aspostdoctoral researcher in National Institute for Material Science, Japan, andState University of New York at Binghamton, between 2004 and 2008. Since Oct.2008, he has worked in Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology andEngineering. His main research interests include graphene and lithiumbatteries. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and received morethan 300 patents.

Abstract



Although graphene has excellent performance andunique functions, it needs to be integrated with other industries fordevelopment in order to better and faster unleash its industrial value. Inrecent years, with the development and progress of graphene preparationtechnology and application technology, graphene has gradually been applied andpromoted in more downstream products and fields. The main products that haveachieved good application and commercialization value include grapheneconductive agents and their application in lithium-ion batteries, lead-carbonbatteries, etc., graphene electric heating elements and their application infloor heating, home appliances, wearable physical therapy protective equipment,etc., graphene modified anti-corrosion coatings and their application in marineengineering, graphene modified textile fibers and their application infunctional clothing etc, graphene thermal conductive film and its applicationin electronic products such as mobile phones. These graphene products show thatChina has achieved good results in the commercial application of graphene,reflecting the empowering role of graphene in the transformation and upgradingof traditional industries. Graphene technology innovation and industrialdevelopment continue to heat up, and it is expected to be applied in themanufacturing of super copper, super aluminum, flexible displays, electronicdevices, and other industries in the future. However, the large-scaleproduction and application of graphene materials still face challenges, mainly focusingon green manufacturing processes, production costs, quality stability, andother aspects. The widespread application of graphene will require addressingissues such as manufacturing technology, manufacturing costs, and surfacemodification, and combining them with other materials and technologies toachieve greater market influence and commercial success.
